SST Worker Information

Requires workers at job sites that must designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager to receive 30 hours of site safety training by December 1, 2019 and an additional 10 hours of training by March 1, 2021. Supervisors will need 62 hours of training by the December 1, 2019 deadline.

Who Needs Training?

SST Worker Information:

Local Law 196 of 2017, requires that construction and demolition workers on job sites with a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager must have:

10 hours of safety training
30 hours of safety training by December 1, 2019
40 hours of safety training by September 1, 2020 (extended to March 1, 2021)

SST Supervisor Information

This only includes Site Safety Managers, Site Safety Coordinators, Concrete Safety Managers, Construction Superintendents and Competent Persons designated by Construction Superintendents.

Required Training for Competent Persons

Supervisor SST cards are required if you serve as the competent person, as specified by

Section 3301.13.12 of the New York City Building Code.

Section 3301.13.12 requires a Construction Superintendent designate a Competent Person for each job site he/she is responsible for and that the designated Competent Person must always be present at the job site whenever active work occurs.

SST Card Prerequisites

OSHA Card – the course must have been completed with an approved OSHA instructor or online training provider issued within 5 years.
- *Please note if we cannot verify your OSHA card, you will not qualify for an SST card. Please, visit the NYC DOB website to find out more information about the OSHA training requirements.
As an approved training provider, we are obligated to verify every SST course that has been completed with other training providers. If we are not able to verify your completed courses, the SST card will not be issued.
- Pricing: Upon successful completion of the 10-Hour Worker SST and 32-Hour Supervisor SST courses with Menotti Enterprise, participants will receive SST cards at no additional cost.
  - *Replacement cards will be at an additional cost.

Worker Wallet Card

Upon completing a Worker training course, DOB-Approved Course Providers issue wallet-sized cards to their students. These cards are used by construction workers as proof of their qualifications to work on certain construction equipment, such as scaffolds. In Fall 2024, DOB-Approved Course Providers will begin to issue one card using the Training Connect platform leveraging the same system used to issue Site Safety Training (SST) cards. The Worker Wallet allows individuals to have multiple cards in their wallet and eliminates the need for workers to carry several cards. Like the Site Safety (SST) card, the Worker Wallet can be scanned to reveal what cards are saved in their Worker Wallet.
