Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee & ensure the safe execution of all activities on site by all workers present by maintaining strict adherence to company safety policies and government regulated policies (OSHA, NYC DOB, etc).
  • Independently stop work for a safety violation or behavior that can lead to a safety violation.
  • Oversee the coordination and scheduling of all site activities as necessary to ensure construction is on schedule.
  • Monitor project labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment as work progresses and take necessary actions to control as determined.
  • Attend and actively participate in project meetings.
  • Supervise & direct Assistant Superintendents (if applicable) through planning, means & methods, manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and work schedules.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports documenting job-site progress and conditions for payment requisition purposes.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and oversee the adherence to Tool Box Talks.
  • Be held accountable for schedule input / adherence, cost, quality, and project profitability.
  • Be able to coordinate assigned work with different crafts, trades, subcontractors, and inspection staff.
  • Be able to prepare & verify completion of punch list and closeout items for all trades.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • NYC DOB Superintendent License
  • 30 Hour OSHA
  • 40 Hour Site Safety Course Certificate of Completion

Required Experience / Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 5 years of related construction experience.
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction or Engineering (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of project equipment and materials.
  • Strong understanding of Labor Regulations
  • Basic knowledge of construction industry including equipment, labor, means & methods, codes, and standards.
  • Strong written & verbal communication in English
  • Broad understanding of the construction industry (with specifics to Safety)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong management, leadership, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively function within a team unit

  • Perform Site Visits to conduct onsite measurements of existing conditions
  • Meet with clients to obtain required information for layout of drawings
  • Be able to meet & manage project objectives, requirements, and constraints
  • Be accurate and pay very close attention to detail.
  • Be able to produce new and/or existing/proposed drawings in Auto Cad
  • Prepare NYC Department of Buildings forms for permits, initial work, and sign off
  • Prepare the following plans Existing Condition Site Plans, Staging and DOT Logistics plans, Site Safety Plans that must comply with Chapter 33 of the NYC DOB Building Code, Occupant Protection & Tenant Protection Plans for submission to the NYC DOB, and Construction Equipment plans.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in the current version of AutoCAD and have the ability to learn newer versions of the program as they are released.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction drawings
  • Must have extensive knowledge of building codes including working with NYC DOB & Zoning regulations with an emphasis on Chapter 33 code.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of drafting standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Must possess good communication skills and have a tenacity for working collaboratively with other team members.
  • Be goal oriented, enthusiastic, and motivated to provide products with great quality.
  • Must be punctual and able to manage multiple time deadlines.

Job Description

The Qualified Safety Person/Safety Engineer will establish & maintain a safety program on a construction project within the 5 boroughs. You will be required to perform daily field inspections, provide site safety oversight, implement safety procedures, and ensure daily compliance by all contractors on site. This position is a hands-on position with a diverse set of responsibilities to include but are not limited to the following:

  • Development of job-specific safety procedures, execution, and implementation of procedures in the field (self-performed and subcontractors)
  • Take any and all corrective actions necessary to eliminate hazards and prevent recurrence
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of safety on the project
  • Will have the authority to take prompt action as necessary to ensure work sites are maintained and work is performed in compliance with the safety requirements of the contract as well as applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
  • Performs daily site safety inspections; identify, document and correct any health and safety deficiencies, and to enforce the requirements of the Environmental, Health & Safety Program and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Ensures that safety meetings are held with all workers on site.
  • Conducts accident and near-miss investigations & documents details proficiently.
  • Prepares and administers the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Maintain & complete all daily reports.

  • Serve as the liaison between our client and OSHA, Insurance Carriers, and/or any other regulatory agencies.
  • Develop & Execute safety kick-off presentations.
  • Support all safety efforts on the project and promote company “Incident & Injury Free” culture & initiatives.
  • Ensure all construction activities are preplanned in regards to safety through pre-task plan reviews as well as preconstruction meetings.
  • Ensure all workers adhere to the approved site safety plan onsite.
  • Maintain all safety-related documentation.
  • Work cohesively with client & their construction management team on site.
  • Coach all workers in effective hazard identification & correction of issues.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Required Experience/Education:

  • 3 Years of construction safety management or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Practical knowledge of OSHA-CFR 1926 “Construction Safety & Health”, the New York City Department of Buildings Construction Safety requirements, Chapter 33 and FDNY Code Chapter 14.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA & other regulatory agency laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Accident investigation & identification of known potential exposures capabilities/experience.
  • Knowledgeable of various construction trades/skills.
  • Proficient computer skills & familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and basic Windows applications.

Compensation/Benefits:

Pay will be determined by experience. We offer paid training, travel expense reimbursement, cellular expense reimbursement, overtime, in addition to our comprehensive benefits (including health, dental, vision options, life insurance, 401K with employer matching, paid time off, commuter benefits).
