The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) recently updated three licensing forms related to safety registration. If you submit LIC2, LIC6, or LIC7 applications, this update affects you directly. To avoid application issues, carefully review the details below.
As of May 29, 2025, new versions of the LIC2, LIC6, and LIC7 forms became available. These updated forms now include two new questions. The questions address your previous licensing history and any convictions or fines related to construction activities.
You can easily identify these new forms. Each form now clearly shows the revision date “Rev. 5/25” printed in the lower right corner. Checking this date before submitting your application helps prevent processing delays or rejections.
Be aware that older versions will expire soon. After June 30, 2025, DOB will no longer accept:
- LIC2 applications (Rev. 6/23)
- LIC6 applications (Rev. 6/23)
- LIC7 applications (Rev. 8/15)
The NYC DOB will no longer accept LIC2 and LIC6 applications with a revision date of “Rev. 6/23.” LIC7 applications with the revision date “Rev. 8/15” also expire after this date. Submit any pending applications using the correct forms before this cutoff.
If you answer “YES” to either of the new Convictions & Fines questions, there’s an additional step. You must complete and submit the LIC34 form alongside your primary application. This extra form gives the DOB more context on your situation, helping them evaluate your application accurately.
