As of July 1, 2025, the Worker Wallet Card is now required on all New York City construction sites for specific certifications. If you’re working without one, you’re out of compliance.
You can no longer show individual cards to prove your training. The Worker Wallet combines multiple certifications into one secure card.
You still need your Site Safety Training (SST) card. The Worker Wallet doesn’t replace it. You must carry and show both when requested.
Which Certifications Are Included?
If you perform any of the following tasks, your certifications must now appear on a Worker Wallet Card:
- Mast Climber User/Operator and Refresher
- Climber/Tower Crane Rigger
- Rigging Supervisor
- Rigging Worker
- Supported Scaffold User
- Supported Scaffold Installer and Remover
- Suspended Scaffold User
- Suspended Scaffold Supervisor
- Periodic Gas Piping Inspector
Any individual cards issued for these credentials are no longer valid. You must replace them with a Worker Wallet issued by a Registered Course Provider.
What Employers Need to Know
You’re required to accept the Worker Wallet as valid proof of training. Each card must be verified through the New York City Training Connect App.
Only providers registered with the Department of Buildings are authorized to issue the Worker Wallet Card. Some may charge an administrative fee to process the card.
What Should You Do Now?
If you’re still carrying separate qualification cards, it’s time to replace them. Ignoring this could result in site access being denied or delay your work.
You can find an approved training provider by visiting the New York City Department of Buildings website. The Training Connect App is available for download from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
