NYC DOB Launches New Campaign to Help with Summons Corrections
The New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) has announced the “Get Summonses Corrected” (GSC) campaign, a new initiative to assist property owners and respondents in certifying corrections for unresolved summonses. Starting March 19, 2024, the DOB’s Administrative Enforcement Unit (AEU) will conduct virtual and in-person events across various boroughs to provide direct assistance on the Certificate of Correction (COC) process.
This campaign is designed to support individuals who are facing challenges with submitting or navigating their COC applications. At each GSC event, participants can meet with AEU representatives who offer personalized guidance on the COC submission process. Whenever possible, the AEU will provide same-day reviews for COC applications, making the correction process quicker and easier.
The GSC campaign kicks off in Queens on March 19, 2024. Here are the scheduled events for March:
- March 19, 2024 – Queens (In-person)
Property owners can visit the Queens borough office at 120-55 Queens Boulevard from 4 pm to 7 pm, where AEU representatives will be available during Buildings After Hours. No appointments are necessary, but pre-submission of the COC form through the DOB NOW: BIS Options portal is recommended. - March 22, 2024 – Virtual Event
For those unable to attend in person, the AEU will host two virtual sessions at 10 am and 2 pm. Each two-hour session will provide step-by-step guidance on the COC upload process and help with any related issues. - March 27, 2024 – Queens (In-person)
Another in-person event will be held in the Queens borough office from 9 am to 4 pm. As with the previous Queens event, no appointments are needed.
The DOB has indicated plans to expand the GSC campaign to other boroughs in the future. For those in other parts of New York City, details about upcoming events will be posted on the DOB’s official website.
If you or someone you know is struggling with the COC process, these GSC events are a valuable resource for navigating and completing the correction process efficiently.
