New DOB NOW Login Process to Require NYC.ID Account by June 2024
In an update affecting all users of the New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) online system, starting June 3, 2024, all existing and new users of DOB NOW will be required to create an NYC.ID account. This new process, part of New York City’s MyCity initiative, aims to streamline access to various online services through a single sign-on account. This change affects access to modules within DOB NOW, including Build, Safety, BIS Options, and Licensing.
To make this transition as smooth as possible, the NYC DOB has outlined a straightforward, one-time process to create an NYC.ID account. Here’s what users need to know:
On or after June 3, 2024, users will need to log in to DOB NOW using the email address already associated with their eFiling or DOB NOW profile. After entering the email, users will be redirected to the NYC.ID registration page, where they’ll complete basic information fields and click “Create Account.” Once registered, an activation link will be sent via email. Users must click this link to activate their NYC.ID account before they can log in to DOB NOW.
It’s important for users to use the same email address associated with their previous DOB NOW account to ensure that all existing filings remain accessible on their dashboard after the switch. Once activated, the NYC.ID account will replace the previous login method for accessing DOB NOW.
This NYC.ID login requirement affects the following DOB NOW modules:
- Build
- Safety
- BIS Options
- Licensing
It’s worth noting that this requirement does not apply to DOB NOW: Inspections and eFiling account registration, which will continue using the current system.
To help users through this transition, the NYC DOB has provided detailed resources, including step-by-step guides, FAQs, and training videos. Additionally, both in-person and online support sessions will be available. Users can find these resources on the DOB NOW Tips page. For specific questions, NYC DOB has a help form available at DOB NOW Help.
This transition to NYC.ID is part of the city’s commitment to improve user experience through centralized access to its online services. By requiring NYC.ID, NYC DOB aims to simplify processes for users and provide a more secure way to manage building-related tasks within the system.
