NYC DOB Customer Service Windows Closed Due to Weather
The New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) has issued an important update for Tuesday, February 13, 2024, regarding the temporary closure of all DOB Customer Service Windows. Due to anticipated severe weather conditions, the department has decided to close its customer service windows for the day across all borough offices. This decision impacts all in-person walk-in services, making it necessary for customers to use the DOB’s online resources for any urgent needs.
While the physical windows are closed, the NYC DOB has assured the public that its online services will continue to operate as usual. All scheduled online appointments and transactions will go on without interruption, allowing customers to get help with building and permit-related concerns without visiting a physical location. Normal in-person operations are expected to resume on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, depending on weather conditions. However, customers should monitor for updates, as additional changes may be made if the severe weather continues.
The following NYC DOB office locations are impacted by this temporary closure:
- Manhattan Borough Office: 280 Broadway, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10007
- Queens Borough Office: 120-55 Queens Boulevard, 1st Floor, Kew Gardens, NY 11424
- Bronx Borough Office: 1932 Arthur Avenue, 5th Floor, Bronx, NY 10457
- Staten Island Borough Office: 10 Richmond Terrace, Borough Hall, 2nd Floor, Staten Island, NY 10301
- Brooklyn Borough Office: 345 Adams Street, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Additionally, the Customer Service Atrium, located at 280 Broadway, 1st Floor, which includes services from the Administrative Enforcement Unit, Cashier, and Licensing Units, will also be unavailable on February 13. The DOB is actively monitoring the weather and will issue further notices if additional closures or changes are required.
During this closure, the NYC DOB encourages customers to use its online services. Through the DOB’s online portal, customers can manage various transactions, schedule appointments, and access support. By keeping online resources available, the DOB ensures that New Yorkers can still address their building-related needs without delay, even if in-person services are paused temporarily.
For anyone requiring immediate assistance or further information, the DOB’s online service portal remains open and fully functional. The department’s goal is to maintain service continuity and minimize disruptions despite the weather. This notice serves as a reminder to always check for updated service announcements, especially during challenging weather.
